Mike Kelly, who served as offensive co ordinator with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 1992 to 1996, returned Tuesday as the 27th head coach in franchise history.
The 50 year old succeeds Doug Berry, who was fired on Nov. 12 after leading 8 10 Winnipeg to a second place finish in the weak East Division this season.
The Blue Bombers then fell 29 21 to Edmonton in the division semifinal.
