PROGRAMS AND PLANS REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
The Programs and Plans Redevelopment Project Steering Committee met in late March and again in mid April,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. It has been decided that the new system will be developed as a module within SI-net in two phases,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. The first phase of the project would be to deliver the functionality of the existing Programs and Plans Database with additional fields as identified by the user requirements,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. It is anticipated that this will be completed by the end of February 2009,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Karen will be working Monday to Thursday until the end of May,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
STAFFING CHANGES STUDENT CENTRE
The Student Centre is pleased to announce the appointments of our newest Client Service Officers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Scott Reynolds and Debra McKenzie,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], both of whom are on fixed term appointments. They bring with them strong customer service backgrounds and have valuable experience in Higher Education. Also,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we welcome to the team Iain Munro,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who has begun his first placement in the rotational scheme. We look forward to training and working with these three new staff throughout this year.
STAFFING CHANGES ACADEMIC FACILITIES
Thomas Blanch has come to UQ from Southern Cross University where he was taking a Business traineeship within the School of Environmental Science Management as a reception/student liaison role. At the conclusion of the traineeship in January 08,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he moved back to Brisbane and soon started work at UQ in the Administrative Officer trainee scheme. His interests include (but are not limited to) music,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sports,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], movies,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], music festivals,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], live gigs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], collecting sneakers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], gym etc.
Vivienne Devlin was appointed to the position of Accommodation Officer at the start of April,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and Rhonda Heyman has joined the Student Services Team in the newly created position of Australian International Liaison Officer.
WELCOME TO TEAM LEADER (RECORDS MANAGEMENT)
Rhys Edwards joined the team of Records and Archives Management Services as Team Leader (Records Management). Rhys previously worked with Queensland Rail in records management. As Team Leader he will be available to respond to queries and to oversee the day to day operations of RAMS. The Awards were established in 1988 to recognise,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], encourage and reward sustained excellence in teaching at the University. Academic staff with teaching or teaching/research appointments who have a minimum of two years academic teaching-related employment within the University are eligible for nomination. Both individual and team nominations are encouraged. Nominations must be made by at least five people who are members of the academic staff of the University or who are current or former students (those who have been taught by the nominee within the last five years). Of the five people who nominate,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], at least one must be an academic staff member and one a current or former student. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
Information regarding these awards,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], including posters,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], guidelines and nomination forms,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], were circulated to Faculties,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Schools,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Centres and Student Centres on 25 February 2008. The Awards recognise learning and teaching support programs and services that make an outstanding contribution to the quality of student learning and the student experience of higher education at UQ. Self-nominations are now being invited for these awards which are open to innovative teaching and learning-related projects or services initiated by curriculum teams,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], groups or units within support services, administrative units,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], centres,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], schools,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or programs of study. They can also be University-wide initiatives.
