it takes more than a pink paintjob
Why do just about all gadgets targeted at the feminine market are identical products because the ones created for men, only with a pink paintjob? Haven't the ol' marketing gurus gotten any wiser? Or are they simply being lazy? I know it isn't for any lack of buying power. What do I mean by female-friendly? I can tell you what I don't mean by that. Pink gadgets! I don't have anything against pink, personally. In fact, it's one of the best colours. But I rarely get my gadgets in pink because of the fact the shades they're usually available in are either bland or downright offensive. Really, is it that difficult to find a shade of pink that's more pleasing to the eye? But it's not just about pink it's about colour in general. A device marketed for women must have many different colour options and then we can match the gadgets to our personal style, not only the boring beige, silver or black options that are usually available. Cell phone manufacturers are currently plugging the color white because the hot new thing, company, it will look more eye-catching than the standard bland palette. Why not go further and offer a variety of colours,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], much like what Apple does using its iPod nano. Nokia did this with its N9 and Lumia 800 smartphones, offering cyan and magenta versions, and I tell you what I almost didn't care how those two devices worked as phones, I just enjoyed using something that was available in such lovely shades of blue and pink. For any device designed for women, the feeling is almost as important as its looks. A lot of gadgets out there are made with sharp,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], angular lines and are too wide for the fairer sex to keep comfortably. I say this having a tinge of irony, because of the smartphone I have been using for the past couple of months includes a huge 5.3" screen that needs two hands to keep it and I love utilizing it. Ignore bland or masculine-looking icons and typefaces why not give the female market a user interface that's got more eye candy, with cute graphics along with a liberal use of colour that engages our interest rather than boring and frequently times perplexing us? We have our very own clothes and our own shoes, perhaps it's time that we got our own gadgets as well.
This piece of writing is so beyond offensive in my experience, that i am having trouble voicing exactly how condescending and patronising I found it to be. Way to throw all ladies right into a collective that can't function with technology,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the way in which men can,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], since they're lacking in eye candy or perhaps a liberal utilization of colour that "engages our interest rather than boring and often times perplexing us?". Have you been KIDDING? I'm utterly dismayed, that this type of written piece could be published on such a widely read site that shoves all women in to the same category. The stupid category. You ought to be embarrassed with yourself.
Like a woman working in a computer repairs shop (owned by a woman), I clicked this link expecting a sensible article suggesting innovative ways to make gadgets more useful to women, instead of the stereotypical "pink paint-job". But no, apparently we just want it to be considered a prettier pink and maybe much more colour range, perhaps because we prefer red nail polish and that we wouldn't want our phones to clash.
Way to go reinforcing the stereotype of ladies only being interested in pretty things with no curiosity about the practicalities of the devices. I'm no feminist but it does get pretty tiring to have male customers walk in our door and only wish to speak with "one from the boys" because clearly I understand nothing about the products I sell.
By the way, ever used your pretty pink phone to get on the web? Visit ebay and search for the phone model an incident. You will find cases for nearly any model come in a number of colours and patterns starting as low as $3. You can match it to the outfit!!
I'm more inclined to get on with life, than ruminate over the different shades of pink, and 'cute' graphics, not available to women.
How much of an absolute load of rubbish,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Here i am these days and womens equality is in the news daily.
Surely this woman doesn't think her peers are extremely ignorant regarding think the color of technology is much more important than technology itself.
If this is the very best she will develop to create about, she needs to get an equal opportunity job, like digging up blocked sewer lines for a plumber. "Get an existence."
I'm outraged with this whole article. "For devices created for women it is important the way it looks. matching the gadgets with this personal style." I'm sorry,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I'm grabbing the sick bag. This article has basically invest women right into a small sterotyped box. How about a gadget that actually works, that does what it says it will. I don't care what it really looks like. I am not a massive protesting feminist, in actual fact I refused to look at Star Trek Voyger since the captain was a female, however i do wish to operate and state that I am tired of people thinking women only care about looks. Gadgets ought to be targetted at PEOPLE that are going to use it, not at women or men based on what it really looks like. If this is what society has come to, kill me now.
As a female of the technology generation I'm wondering the way the colour of the gadget, it doesn't matter how it functions, would be an enticement.
Yes, I want the items I buy to appeal to the attention,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but I'm not likely to compromise on practicality and function for any bright case (especially when it's all too easy to just buy a separate case).
I completely accept this short article. For women who live trouble when it comes to having individual technology for all of us. This is why i think columbia has hit the nail about the head.
I usually import my phones from Korea. Why? Because they're created for women! Should you take a look at phones such as the LG Lollipop, LG Frozen treats, Samsung Corby F and Samsung Nori phones - they're MADE with a woman in your mind - cute animated interfaces,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], changeable led lights,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a reverse camera so we can check our makeup. Honestly, life in Korea for techno-savvy women should be a dream! Hence I usually import these phones whenever i'm able to.
Surely the success of these phones would bring something similar into Australia? As well as america to begin with!
Phones are designed for both male and female,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. If they are to big obtain a different one.
"it takes greater than a pink paint job". Then you definitely go on concerning the splash of paint.
Overcome it. There are covers you can buy for many phones.
Stop whinging and build a bridge.
