Chartier, from a heart attack following an extended confrontation with a security guard, The (Springfield, Mass.) Republican reported Tuesday.The suit, filed in Hampden Superior Court, names the team, the National Football League and three other parties, including the security guard.Chartier and the couple's 6-year-old, Tedy, arrived at Gillette Stadium about 90 minutes before the home opener on Sept. 12, 2010, the suit claims. The stands were nearly empty and two NFL officials invited the child onto the field for a photo.Chartier stayed in the stands and the guard, Arthur Sherman, confronted him about Tedy being on the field. The two men argued about 15 minutes, causing Chartier to have a fatal heart attack, the suit claims.Sherman "inappropriately and unnecessarily confronted" Chartier and his son "in a harsh, unprofessional, confrontational, disrespectful and antagonistic manner," the suit claims.Lawyers representing the NFL and the other parties in the suit declined comment.
